...BUT THE LORD IS BIGGER.

While reading this morning, I came across scripture I have read multiple times…but today, my eyes were opened to its power and truth.

“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” [Isaiah 43: 1b-3a]

There are so many things that I am daily faced with that cause me to fear. When a dear friend is diagnosed with a harsh disease, I find myself weak and fearful.  Why her, I ask God? Why does it have to happen this way? He replies: “Just trust me. Do not be afraid.”

I ask her how she does not fear and she replies, “…because my God is bigger than my fear…because my God is bigger than my disease.” She is a testament of faith and walking in it each day.

He has called me by name. He has called you by name. When we trudge through
DEEP WATERS, He is with us. When there are rivers of difficulty, disease, times of tears, and times of pain, He is with us. We are all who the Lord says we are. We are not ugly, we are not weak, and we are not worthless. Those are LIES that we hear from the one who is NOT holy. Those are LIES we hear because we don’t shut the door in the devil’s face. God’s desire is for us is to be whole and free. HE IS THE ONE WHO CREATED US FOR FREEDOM.

“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. So please don’t lose heart because of my trials here. I am suffering for you, so you should feel honored.” [Ephesians 3:12-13]

HE IS THE LORD MY GOD. HE IS THE LORD YOUR GOD.

Through Jesus, we can confidently enter the presence of God. When that veil was torn, we were given the right to complete access to the most high God. I think about these daily struggles and the rivers of difficulty each one of us experience and am reminded that if we call upon the Lord, He will walk right next to us through the hardships.

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. Stay away from every kind of evil.” [Ephesians 5: 16-22]

Let us not stop praying. Let us allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives. Let us call upon the name of the Lord.

Like my dear friend said, “…but the Lord is bigger.”
